AŞINMA (CORROSION), written and directed by Şahika Tekand, is a solo performance by Yiğit Özşener.

The play focuses on the human being’s effort to survive against today’s world order, the rigour, which limits one’s realm of existence.

It takes place in a setup that enables a skillful execution characterized by the actor’s actual struggle to exist in a simulation environment with lighting and signals accompanying the flow of his speech that has a spiral pattern. This environment creates an active spectating experience through which the audience is invited to an incredible journey with the performer.

Yiğit Özşener, with his outstanding solo performance that left the audience in awe, won the Best Actor Award at the 24th Afife Theatre Awards and Şahika Tekand received the Best Writer Award at the 29th Turkish Theatre Critics Association Awards.

After 75 sold out plays, this will be first time AŞINMA will be performed in the UK to a very limited number of audience.

The musical passages used in the play are taken from Zeynep Gedizlioğlu’s compositions.
