BAC DANCE ACADEMY

Welcome to the Academy!

BAC Dance Academy will resume for its Autumn term on the 25th of September and will run until the 27th of November. The Academy meets at Battersea Arts Centre on Wednesdays between 6 – 7:30pm. BDA is a mixed gender, mixed ability class for ages 11-19, and taught by professional dance teachers, specializing in hip-hop and street dance.

With a class size of around 20 students, and up to 3 dance tutors per session, all participants will have the opportunity to work on their movement ability as an individual, as well as an ensemble without getting left behind.

Want to get involved? Whether you’re new to dancing, or a more experienced performer, we welcome all skill levels. For more information, please get in touch with Molly on nextgen@bac.org.uk.

BAC is a registered charity and relies on generous supporters to continue delivering our Next Gen work. Support us by making a donation or joining as a member to help make the Extraordinary happen.

About BAC Dance Academy

BAC Dance Academy was set up in 2021 as a collaboration between Impact Dance and Battersea Arts Centre. Impact Dance supported the pilot of the academy, with their 25 years’ experience supporting in the set-up of the new young people’s initiative.

Our sessions are led and choreographed by Nikki Green, Nia James and Poppy Tremlett.

Each term, we aim to provide a guest artist session, where participants can meet and collaborate with other professionals in the industry, to broaden their knowledge and experience of dance.  We also include theatre trips and free tickets to in-house shows to ensure that every participant can access the arts no matter their personal circumstance.

Each Dance Academy term is approximately 10 weeks long, with a half term break midway through. We specialize in hip-hop techniques and skills training, as well as creative and choreography tasks. We will often receive performance opportunities, so will often spend a term learning a routine for these.

BAC Dance Academy is supported by the London Marathon Foundation.

Past Performances

The BAC Dance Academy had two successful sold-out performances of Outrageous Behaviour in 2022, as part of Battersea Arts Centre’s Homegrown Festival. They performed Mind Games, a piece that questioned the connotations of the word “outrageous” and challenged the audience’s perceptions of what it truly means to be outrageous.

In 2023, Law Makers, Law Breakers marked another exciting collaboration between BAC Dance Academy and Impact Dance. The show featured performances by professional dancers, alongside Impact Youth, BAC Dance Academy, E33 Dance Academy, Lotus Youth Company/ELD Youth Company, and West Thames College.
