Catherine, played by Jack Boal in drag, is a white, old lady with blonde curly hair - she is wearing a pink dressing gown and jogging bottoms, with brown fluffy slippers. She is slumped in a chair, taking a drag of her cigarette, watching television. There is a puff of smoke travelling in the gap between her and the television.

Jack Boal’s explosively tender show on the state of care in England.

On the coast of Lincolnshire, Catherine sits down for her nightly ritual of telly. But as the waves crash and seagulls call, another force quietly encroaches upon her delicate sanctuary.

Inspired by the fictional characters of Victoria Wood and the real women in Jack’s life, drag and realism meet for an entertaining and truthful revelation on the cost of care.

Think dinnerladies meets Bertolt Brecht.

VISIT OUR ACCESS PAGE

We want our shows to be as accessible to as many people as possible.

We offer tickets to most shows on a Pay What You Can basis throughout the year.

Tickets for Bloom performances in 2025 start at £4, and we have recommended pricing to help you choose a price that works for you.

We know that ticket price is a huge barrier for some. If you can afford to pay the recommended price or more, choosing to do so supports those that can’t. It makes it possible for us to continue to offer Pay What You Can and welcome those who otherwise wouldn’t be able to attend.
