Blending feats of memory, theatre, and humour, Escaping Oneself is a haunting, intimate solo performance in which literature becomes a line of flight. 

In an original concept by magician Yann Frisch, Échapper à soi (Escaping Oneself) tells the story of two friends. Alice, an actress, shares the story of her friendship with Chloé, an author. Chloé has hyperthymesia – the ability to memorize and recount every single detail of her life.  

Blurring the lines between reality and fiction, Chloé Vivarès demonstrates this ability live on stage. Through reflection and audience interaction, she reveals the story of a woman driven by a survival instinct to immerse herself in books.

Exploring the persistence of memories and the impossibility of forgetting, Escaping Oneself is a dazzling invitation to celebrate the books we read.

Biography

Chloé Vivarès is a writer, actor, and mnemonist. She trained at the ERACM and completed a Master’s Degree in Creative Writing at the University of Paris VIII. Her first text Un Jour Sans Gravité was published by Tapuscrit Théâtre Ouvert in 2026.
