How do you continue to value yourself when society doesn’t value you?

EXXY (Aussie slang for, ‘that’s expensive, mate’) takes us on an epic and tender journey back to where Dan Daw began – working class, with very little.

In a world premiere in our Grand Hall, join Dan: A Queer crippled artist on the rise, as he transports us to the Australian outback to talk about his imposter syndrome and fluctuating self-worth.

Told through a combination of remarkable stagecraft, movement and storytelling, EXXY propels Dan into the spotlight on an audacious and vulnerable quest to live in the world fearlessly.

Joined on stage by three performers who walk and talk like him, watch as Dan finds comfort in the possibility of finally blending in, after a lifetime of standing out.

“Certainly, Daw’s show is unlike anything else you are likely to see” ★★★★ Guardian

“Unapologetic, vulnerable, brilliant” ★★★★ The Stage

Biographies

Dan Daw Creative Projects (DDCP) is a disabled led company who are leading the way in creating accessible international touring work that blurs the lines between theatre, dance and activism. Alongside performance work, they create systemic change in institutions and the sector for d/Deaf and disabled artists and audiences, through long-term partnerships and residencies.

Based in the UK, Dan Daw Creative Projects have presented their work at British Dance Edition (UK), Swedish Performing Arts Biennale (SWE), Sydney Festival and Rising Festival (AUS), Kampnagel and Sophiensaele (DE), SoHo Playhouse and Under The Radar (USA) and Sadler’s Wells and Battersea Arts Centre (UK) – amongst others. They curated the 2025 edition of Auawirleben Theatre Festival in Switzerland. From 2023-25 the company is in residence at Kampnagel, Hamburg as ‘Agents for Change’, exploring what accessibility looks like across a venue, including programming, residencies, audience experience, capital development and human resources.

DDCP’s work explores what it means for disabled bodies to occupy, and be unapologetic in, non-disabled spaces. Our mission is to use the arts to provoke change and reclaim space. We use dance, theatre and activism to educate, inspire and advocate for those most in need, who’s lived experiences are similar to our own.

VISIT OUR ACCESS PAGE

We want our shows to be as accessible to as many people as possible.

We offer tickets to most shows on a Pay What You Can basis throughout the year.

Tickets for Grand Hall performances in 2025 start at £12.50, and we have recommended pricing to help you choose a price that works for you.

We know that ticket price is a huge barrier for some. If you can afford to pay the recommended price or more, choosing to do so supports those that can’t. It makes it possible for us to continue to offer Pay What You Can and welcome those who otherwise wouldn’t be able to attend.
