Blending circus, dance, music and magical illusion, Lento e Violento is an invitation to explore the fantastical.

Meaning ‘Slow and Violent’ in Italian, Lento e Violento, sees trained dancer and circus artist Valentina Cortese compose a multi-layered riddle that plays with repetition, disruption, and manipulation.

Creating a space where form is as significant as content, this meditative psychodrama seduces audiences into Valentina’s enchanting universe with a gentle provocation of curiosity.

Biography

A self-described ‘dancer with circus tendencies’ Valentina Cortese trained in dance at the CRR of Boulogne then in acrobatics at the FLIC Circus School in Turin. In 2016, she founded the Terzo Livello Collective dedicated to research and experimentation in circus arts. She continues to train with artists such as Peeping Tom, Baro d’evel Cirk, Cristiana Morganti (Tanztheater Pina Bausch), Ambra Senatore and Adriana Boriello. She is part of the Fabrique De La Danse, an incubator for choreographers, where she developed Lento e Violento, first presented at the Carreau du Temple in Paris in June 2018.
