Encounter new tribes and explore their stories through beatbox and hip-hop theatre in this brand new performance from BAC Beatbox Academy.

Created and developed by Academy members in their weekly sessions, this performance has been shaped and led by BAC Beatbox Academy director Conrad Murray alongside lead facilitators Kate Donnachie and Nadine Rose Johnson.

Through freestyles, jams, and creative improv workshops, the facilitators have guided participants to craft an original performance showcasing their unique styles of beats, raps, singing and spoken word.

For some of the performers involved, they are also taking their first steps onto a stage! Come and witness the energy and creativity of our Academy members, from the newest to the most experienced.

Next Gen Producers is part of BAC’s Next Gen creative engagement programmes for ages 11-29, generously supported by Arts Council England and Apple, with additional support from Craig Mawdsley and the Three Monkies Trust.

Biographies

BAC Beatbox Academy was established by Conrad Murray in 2008 and has since gone on to create critically acclaimed shows including Frankenstein: How to Make A Monster and Pied Piper: A Hip Hop Family Musical.

The group meet at Battersea Arts Centre weekly to jam together, improve their beatbox and vocal skills and make their own music. The group is led by Conrad who is an established theatre maker, director, singer, beatbox and loop artist. He works alongside a team of other professional performers who also facilitate sessions, many of whom have come up through their involvement in the Academy themselves.

VISIT OUR ACCESS PAGE

We want our shows to be as accessible to as many people as possible.

We offer tickets to most shows on a Pay What You Can basis throughout the year.

Tickets for Homegrown Festival performances in 2025 start at £4, and we have recommended pricing to help you choose a price that works for you.

We know that ticket price is a huge barrier for some. If you can afford to pay the recommended price or more, choosing to do so supports those that can’t. It makes it possible for us to continue to offer Pay What You Can and welcome those who otherwise wouldn’t be able to attend.
