Some doors should stay sealed.
In the days following a fire at Battersea Arts Centre on Friday 13 March 2015, a team of builders uncovered a sealed chamber in the original stone structure. When they opened the chamber, what they found was so disturbing that the renovation came to an immediate halt.
11 years later, the door is unsealed once again. The door to Room 13…
Created by experiential theatre company Immersive Octopus, this spine-chilling production blurs the lines between local history and imagined unreality. Rooted in the fictional aftermath of real historical events, Room 13 combines folklore and the paranormal to shock, thrill and leave you breathless.
You are summoned to meet the Circle of the Veil, a secret society of paranormal investigators, to uncover the truth behind a series of unexplained sinister encounters in the building. Discover the history before crossing the threshold into Room 13, where you’ll work with your fellow investigators to solve its riddle—and face the darkness at its heart.
Directed by Tom Maller, the multi award-winning director behind immersive productions Peaky Blinders: The Rise, Doctor Who: Time Fracture, The Paddington Bear Experience and Secret Cinema productions of Casino Royale, Blade Runner and Romeo + Juliet.
Combining rich storytelling with special effects, Halloween at Battersea Arts Centre has never been more terrifying.

FAQs
Following a short journey through the Battersea Arts Centre, you’ll enter Room 13 and take your seat at one of the large tables, where a theatrical experience will unfold around you. There’s no exploration or movement around the space once the performance begins.
It’s designed to be genuinely frightening – expect jump scares, unsettling moments, atmospheric effects and a prolonged period of complete darkness. However, this is a theatrical horror experience rather than a scare attraction.
Only if you want to. There are some optional moments of interaction, but nobody will be pressured to participate.
Performers will never deliberately invade your personal space, and we ask that you respect the same boundaries.
Groups of two to four who arrive together can expect to be seated together. We’ll do our best to accommodate larger groups at the same table, although this cannot be guaranteed.
Absolutely – solo visitors are very welcome and will join a table with other audience members.
You can leave at any point. A team member will be present throughout the performance. If you’d like to leave, simply use the signal explained during your introductory briefing, and a member of the team will escort you safely out.
Please note that, due to safety reasons, readmittance is not possible once you’ve left.
Approximately 30-40 minutes. There is also an optional pre-show gallery to explore before your experience begins. We advise that you arrive 20 minutes prior to your allocated performance time.
Yes. The experience is fully wheelchair accessible, with step-free access via a lift and accessible seating within the performance space.
If you have any additional access requirements, please contact the Battersea Arts Centre Box Office ahead of your visit.
ROOM 13 is suitable for ages 16 and over. Anyone under 18 must be accompanied by an adult.
Please arrive at least 20 minutes before your advertised performance time. Unfortunately, latecomers cannot be admitted once their performance has begun. Where possible, the Box Office will try to accommodate you in a later performance, subject to availability, although this cannot be guaranteed.
ROOM 13 is designed to be scary, but you don’t need to be a horror fan to enjoy it. Unlike a traditional scare attraction, you won’t be chased or singled out, and you’ll remain seated throughout the main performance. A team member will be present throughout to assist anyone who wishes to leave at any point during the experience.
Unfortunately, due to safety reasons, food and drink cannot be brought into the experience.
Your assistance animal is welcome to accompany you on the journey to Room 13, but unfortunately cannot remain in the performance space during the show. The Battersea Arts Centre Front of House team will be happy to look after your assistance animal while you enjoy the performance.
