Part of Homegrown Festival 2024

A Scratch Night celebrating writers and performers from our local community.  

Exploring the themes of ownership and belonging, See If It Sticks will present new and in-progress works spanning theatre, dance and music, platforming emerging talent in South-West London. 

This interactive event will conclude with a meet-and-greet session with the artists where you can share your thoughts and feedback on their work.

Annie’s plays include WOMAN CAUGHT UNAWARE (Heretic Voices winner, Arcola, Nick Hern Books); PROGRESS (Space),  and TROLL (People’s Choice Film of Fest, FFTG Awards.) Her festival plays have been performed in the UK, US and Canada. Twice longlisted for the Bruntwood Prize, she was a 2022 Radius Prize winner.

 

Steven Nguyen – Performer and Writer of ‘The Rise of Hermit’

Steven is a British-Vietnamese actor and writer, born and raised in Hackney, London. He trained and graduated from ALRA in 2021 and participated in ‘Write your first full-length play’ course with Theatre 503. He is passionate about work that give’s under-represented communities a space in the art, particularly work that is representative of BESEA communities. He believes that storytelling has the power to be entertaining, educational and socially impactful.

 

Bea Bidault – Performer 

Bea is a dance artist and emergent choreographer. She trained at CobosMika Junior Company & Edge, the postgraduate company of LCDS. Bea works as a performer, movement and rehearsal director across live work and film alongside directors and other creatives. Her interests are in confronting topics such as capitalism and neoliberalism, revealing dance as a sight for transformation and how collaborative practices can help us rebuild a sense of community. She collaborated with dance artist Theo Arran, creating the duet The Shape of a Day. The duet was performed at Festival Deltebre 22′, at the Museum of Modern Art in Valencia and in London. Most recently, Bea has been collaborating with Becky Namgauds as a dance artist and rehearsal director; and as the movement director for circus artist Loosy Smokes. Bea is part of Teac Damsa, directed by Michael Keegan-Dolan, performing in the piece Mám. She also was the rehearsal assistant for his latest creation How to be a Dancer in Seventy-two Thousand Easy Lessons.

 

Arielle Lauzon – Performer

Arielle is a French-Canadian circus performer born and raised in Québec. She spent a decade training as a competitive gymnast and then combines her passion for the arts and her acrobatic background to enrol in École de Cirque de Québec where she specialises in hoop diving, slack rope and clown. Her signature mesh of dynamic floor acrobatics and natural clown abilities have made her a key performer in productions across North America and Europe. Her credits include La Galerie (Machine de Cirque), La Grande Tournée (Cirque Eloize), Camping (Theatre A Tempo), Dior Summer Spring Collection (Paris Fashion Week, Mimbre), Midsummer’s Night Dream (Flip Fabrique), Tu Si Que Valès. In 2022, she joined The Revel Puck Circus as the main clown with whom she’s had the joy to perform across London and at prestigious festivals such as Edinburgh Fringe and Festival Mondial du Cirque de Demain.

 

Aoife O’Sullivan – Performer

Aoife is a graduate of the two-year full time acting course at the Gaiety School of Acting. She was most recently on stage with her Musical Improv Collective ‘Lost the Plot: An Improvised Musical’ at the Hen and Chickens. Aoife’s Credits include Say Nothing (Disney +), Dream Factory (Everyman Theatre), Tír na nÓg: A New Irish Musical (Aon Scéal Theatre) Alice and the Wolf (Barnstorm/ Irish National Tour), Fallen Angels (Blacklight Theatre), The Threesome (Edinburgh Fringe), Punk Rock (Granary Theatre), Michael Collins World Premiere (Cork Opera House).

 

Emilia Nurmukhamet – Performer

Emilia Nurmukhamet (she/they) is a queer migrant theatre maker, performer, DJ and creative facilitator. She is the co-founder and co-artistic director of Bold Mellon – an award nominated multidisciplinary LGBTQIA+ artist collective dedicated to amplifying intersectional queer stories. Emilia’s work focuses on an interdisciplinary approach to performance: combining live sound, digital media and performance art alongside focusing on autobiographical and documentary style writing. Emilia’s work has been performed at Rich Mix, Ugly Duck, Royal Docks, VFDalston, Lyric Hammersmith Theatre, Kings Head Theatre, Camden People’s Theatre, Stanley Arts, Contact and Vaults Festival.

This event takes place in person in our Recreation Room. This space is on the first floor, with step-free access via a lift.

If you have booked a ticket you will receive an email from us before your performance detailing important information about your visit.

PERFORMANCE INFORMATION

This show will be captioned. Best view of the captioning will be from audience right. Out Front of House team will be on hand to help direct to best view seats. There will be an opportunity to socialise in the space after the show, unfortunately this cannot be captioned.

This show is in development so content details may change.

This performance will be Relaxed. We invite you to make yourself comfortable and move around if you need to and if you need to leave the performance at any point you will be allowed to return to the space when you feel ready.

We offer tickets on a Pay What You Can basis for the majority of performances throughout the year. Tickets usually start at £8, and we have recommended pricing to help you to choose a price that works for you.
